Supporting the
South Asian LGBTQ

community
since 1997

EVENTS

Satrang’s programming is year round, and includes coffee socials, film screenings, drag shows, and large scale events, like South Asian Pride Night, Family Day, and our annual Anniversary Gala.

RESOURCES

Through our connections to ally orgs serving the South Asian and LGBTQIA+ communities, we are able to connect our community members to support for mental health, immigration services, and gender-affirming care.

SATRANGI STORIES

We aim to document and uplift the personal histories of multiple generations of LGBTQIA South Asians in various forms, including writing, film, and audio interviews.

About us

Satrang serves the South Asian LGBTQ community of Southern California by promoting awareness, acceptance, and empowerment through social, educational, and advocacy-related events. We envision an inclusive and visible community in which South Asian LGBTQ-identified people feel whole and heard.

Satrang is committed to equal opportunity for all persons. No one shall be treated differently, separately, or have any action that directly affects the individual be taken on the basis of race, religion, national origin, marital status, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression or disability.

Satrang in the Media

Satrangis discuss finding community and acceptance for all parts of their identity

“Seeing other South Asian queer people living and thriving and embracing their joy gave me the permission to do the same”

Satrang’s South Asian Pride Night was one of many events centering LGBTQIA+ Asians featured in a 2023 article in the LA Times

Satrang @ 25 – Queer South Asian Diaspora(s) in Context

Learn about the history of Satrang by visiting SAADA’s digital exhibition, curated by Aziz Sohail and Alexis Bard Johnson.

“While gesturing to the past, the exhibition also looks to the future, asking how Satrang may continue to evolve. This presentation explores: how can an LGBTQ community organization hold intergenerational memory? How does it simultaneously celebrate collective joy and also give space to grief? And how does it respond to the needs of a diverse and complex community, creating a safe space for all”

Satrang Recognized by City of West Hollywood

In June 2023, the Satrang board was presented a Certificate of Recognition by Mayor Sepi Shyne, in recognition of Satrang’s cultural contributions, community building, and advocacy-related work.
